Zydus Wellness Introduces India’s First Trivalent Influenza Vaccine

VaxiFluTM has been launched by Zydus Wellness. It is India’s first trivalent influenza vaccine, designed to provide protection against major flu strains circulating this season.
The injection was developed in line with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations and endorsed by India’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The vaccine targets the following strains- H1N1, H3N2 and B/Victoria lineage. Unlike older quadrivalent vaccines, this excludes B/Yamagata strain, as this strain has not been detected anywhere around the world since 2020. It brings India in line with 40 other nations who have previously shifted to trivalent form, ensuring relevant and effective treatment, said Dr. Sharvil Patel, managing Director, Zydus. Seasonal Influenza leads to millions of deaths and suffering around the globe each year.
It is considered a major threat to public health. Zydus strengthens India’s fight against flu with this customized vaccine, covering a wider range of applications in terms of age or disease which marks a significant step in preventive healthcare for the country.
