NPPA Sets Uniform Drug Prices for Key Formulations

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers has issued a series of landmark orders to strengthen affordability and ensure uniformity in drug pricing across India.In its latest notifications, NPPA has extended ceiling price control to manufacturers of few injections.

Further retail prices have been fixed for essential formulations under Drugs Prices Control Order, 2013. This include critical categories such as antibiotics, anti-diabetics, cardiotonics. Vitamins, analgesics. Notable entries include many popular antibiotic combinations like Amoxicillin & Clavulanate suspension.In addition, NPPA has approved a separate ceiling price for Meropenem Powder for injection manufactured by Gufic Biosciences Ltd., incorporating special features tto reduce contamination risks. Also 15% increase over standard ceiling price has been allowed to maintain safety standards.

This move by NPPA reinforces its commitment towards making treatment accessible to all classes of people. It helps to balance public health with industry sustainability.
