DVAC Exposes Tamil Nadu Joint Director of Drugs Control, Food and Drug Administration : Caught taking Bribe for License

PharmaGenDRx News Bureau, – July 23, 2025

03:00 PM IST

In an undergoing anti-corruption operation, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has arrested P.U Karthikeyan, Director-in-charge of Tamil Nadu Drug Control Administration (TN DCA), charged with asking for and accepting bribes.

Karthikeyan was posted only a month ago and was caught red-handed at his own office while allegedly accepting an advance bribe of Rs.25,000. The amount was part of a larger 2 lakh demand for issuing manufacturing licenses for soap and shampoo products to a Vellore-based entrepreneur.

The complainant, S. Saravanan, proprietor of Our Green India Soap Company had submitted all required documents and paid official fees via the designated portal. When allegedly pressured to “complete formalities”, he promptly reported the matter to DVAC.

Saravanan’s swift action led to the bricks of a successful sting operation. Karthikeyan was arrested by DVAC and the bribed amount was also seized. This action by DVAC shows transparency among state regulatory bodies.
