Following the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has permitted medical device manufacturers and importers to affix sticker labels of revised Maximum Retail Price (MRPs) on existing stocks, taking effect from 22nd September,2025.
CDSCO issued guidelines in a recent circular. Keeping market supply in mind, the regulatory body has provided a three-month duration to ensure smooth implementation of the revised tax structure. The companies were guided to ensure stickering of new prices but by keeping the supply chain intact.
This move aims to ensure that the benefit of reduced GST charges reaches patients. It was also recognized as a practical measure to support accessibility and affordability for patients across the nation without causing stock wastage and facilitating quicker regulatory compliance simultaneously.CDSCO has also advised to maintain transparency, ensure stickered prices are clearly visible and maintain adherence to recalculated prices.
